Isn't It Ironic?

  1. This is a complicated issue. I am for safe sex for all (both women and men). I have looked up a few sources, and there is evidence to support that there is an increased chance of breast cancer associated with oral contraceptives. However, it is NOT linked, as the above image assets, that taking contraceptives means you will get breast cancer. Cancer.org's page states regarding the link between the two: Maybe, or slight risk of increasing chance of breast cancer.

According to studies, a woman's chance of breast cancer is lowered to the same percentage as a woman who did not use contraceptives after 10 years. Also, there is evidence that supports that contraceptives lower the risk of ovarian cancer.

I think that information is empowering, and women deciding to take birth control should be given all of the information, including risks. However, it should be their choice whether or not they decide to use contraceptives and not a decision made by others.
