The Hot Topic Of Abortion

Jeff Geering gets all the credit for this photo. I don’t remember where I found it on the net - just that it has had a great impact on my life. I have kept it on my computer since the last presidential election.

I have a lot of admiration for the woman that holds up the sign “My Abortion Hurt Me.” Can you even begin to imagine how hard that must have been for her to hold up a sign that pretty much tells the entire world that she has had an abortion and that she admits to the whole entire world that her abortion hurt her?

What I can’t help but wonder is the “how” she was hurt by her abortion part. I also wonder sometimes how much Love, Compassion, and Patience that we have as Christians towards women that have had abortions OR are contemplating having an abortion?

When you see a photograph like the one in this post, what do you think of? Or what comes to your mind first? How does the photo make you feel? What did this photo make you think of?

Have you seen this commercial?

I've seen this commercial on TV and I don't like it. I don't like it one bit. It pisses me off. The truth hurts! Please get out there and VOTE next week.

NPR Fired Juan Williams

I heard about NPR firing Juan Williams:

Williams, a Fox News contributor and 10-year NPR veteran, was fired from the popular public radio syndicate for making comments on "The O'Reilly Factor" about what he describes as his "visceral reaction" to airplane passengers in "Muslim garb." "I get worried. I get nervous," he said.

I can't believe this man was fired because he was honest about what he feels when he sees Muslims dressed in Muslim gear.

I am offended when I see a Muslim woman covered up. There is a lady that lives in my neighborhood that attends all the elementary school functions dressed from head to toe this way. It's disturbing to me, it worries me, and I too get nervous when I see this.

NPR was wrong to fire Juan Williams.

Life Forever Changed

On 9/11 I was in college. I went to chapel, and that is where I found out about what happened. After college, I lived on Long Island. I had a student whose dad had been in the first tower when hit, but he did get out. However, his life has been forever changed. I did not know anyone personally who died that day, but I saw how it affected so many. I can't imagine the pain family and friends have had to endure.

Jesse Jackson Parenting Quotes?

I came across a bible verse today that made me think of this discussion.

Proverbs 24:13 My child, eat honey, for it is good, and the honeycomb is sweet to the taste.

I wonder what God is trying to tell me.

We haven't talked to anyone at the school yet. Don is in Utah at the moment and he wanted to handle this one. So I will keep you guys posted and let you know what happens if there is really anything to report back on.

I want to thank all of my facebook friends for chiming in with all of your points of view. One thing that remains in my mind is that it's just a birthday celebration. It's not a regular meal. It's not an everyday snack.

When I look back on my elementary school days it's the celebrations that I can remember the most. Why? Because that's what was fun as a kid. The holidays, the celebrations, etc. School has become so complicated that they are now sending home worksheets requesting that we fill in the days that our kids have exercised. They are kids. They play outside. There job is to play, run, and have fun. They have turned this into a huge chore.

I don't know. I got a newsletter from the PTA the other day. It came home the same time that the Birthday Treat sheet came home. On it was a parenting quote from Jesse Jackson. Jesse Jackson? Seriously? He is the epitome and ultimate example of parenting? Why on earth is the PTA sending home Jesse Jackson parenting quotes? Why are they even sending home parenting advice at all?

I don't know. Our society today has dipped just a little bit too far into my home and I don't like it. Anyway, that's where I'm at. Thanks for your input and for not being shy to speak up. If we forget how to do that even on the "little" things boy are we in trouble. Think of how much turmoil could have been prevented in the world if we would have paid better attention to the little things.

I don't know what the answer is because on the flip side we have our priorities all messed up. Look at what the Senate accomplished yesterday. They managed to sign a bill that turns down the volume of television commercials. Go Figure!?
